What parents fear about their children and bullying
May 14, 2021

It was recently reported that bullying occurs with one in five children (National Center for Educational Statistics, 2019). We never want to think that our child could be contributing to that, but it is always a good idea to remember: there is never too much that we can do to surround our children with inspiring and positive role-models, which will affirm for them the most positive behaviors, traits, and characteristics.

Something that has been proven to help the situation before it even starts is to show examples of positive behavior at home. Part of this is creating an environment where everyone in the family is listened to and respected. Another part of it is to monitor the messages your children are receiving from the TV, the internet, and books.

Choose children’s media that cares about creating good role models and promoting positive behavior. Children grow by watching the world around them. They turn to the characters in their lives, whether real or fiction, as role models for how to behave. We know how much influence media can have over a child, so at Burst, we definitely don’t want to be a part of the problem. So to the very best of our ability, we want to help families, crafting every book with positive characters and wholesome messages, and start being a part of the solution! Together, we can reduce childhood bullying, and make childhood a wonderful and cherished time in our children’s lives.
